With the release of
Swish Waves The Life of Pablo on TIDAL, TIDAL users had their eyes assaulted by the MSPaint-chic cover (Then again, it's probably divine punishment for even using TIDAL). By mild demand on ONTD, I will now show some of the worst albums to my recollection.
1. Born This Way - Lady Gaga
Once upon a time, Lady Gaga was praised for her costumes, music videos, and album covers. Gaga sets a new standard in the music scene as her peers became increasingly dramatic in their visuals in response to Gaga's success. However, her visuals became increasingly questionable as her popularity declined. While there are many embarrassing Lady Gaga looks to choose from, nothing tops the Born This Way album. Maybe it's because the koons isn't in me, but the album makes no sense. How is it related to the album title or theme? Is she supposed to be a motorcycle going on the right track? Is she stating that she was born motorcyclekin? Regardless, the album cover was a clear sign of worse things to come: ARTPOP.
2. Itano Tomomi - SxWxAxG
Itano Tomomi was arguably one of the most successful AKB48 girls. She established herself as the face of Shibuya. She had some of the strongest releases among the girls that had solo career. But just when it looked like she would solidify her place in the Japanese music industry, her image and music took a turn. Whether it's an attempt to discard her image as a member of AKB48 or a failed attempt at switch to a neo-gyaru image, her new image was ultimately in vain. Her debut album sold a little over 20,000 copies. It's okay Tomochin, the world is simply not ready for the guilty pleasure song known as SWAGGALICIOUS.
But that's enough about her career, we're here for the album cover. Just look at how edgy she is. Metaphorical weed. The bandanna. The SxWxAxG themed swag. She edgy. Yes. So edgy that it's 360 degrees.
3. Miley Cyrus - Bangerz
Speaking of image change... We have Miley. I think no commentary is needed tbh.
4. U2 - Songs of Innocence
So remember that time U2 released that free album on iTunes? Let me put on a tinfoil hat as I explain to you the conspiracy behind it. You see, the album cover features a picture of Larry (Drummer of U2 and no relation to the One Direction ship) hugging his shirtless son on the waist. Yeah, so I think it isn't an album. I think it's incestuous gay porn disguised as an album. Actually, doesn't ONTD have an incest kink? ... Yeah, I'm sure some of you guys now regret deleting that album now. It's okay. It's not first cousins. Not at all.
