Ariana Grande Has No ‘Problem’ With MTV VMA Award Noms: ‘I Really Hope I Can Win’

Ariana Grande took to Twitter yesterday to express her gratitude for being nominated for three MTV VMA Awards. The “Problem” singer also expressed her desire to take home at least one of those golden astronauts this year:

She followed her initial tweet with two more praising those who nominated her, expressing herself both verbally and visually:

Ariana Grande joins the likes of Beyoncé, Lorde, Katy Perry, and “Problem” collaborator Iggy Azalea in the Best Female Video category. Grande’s “Problem” is also up for Best Pop Video and Best Collaboration with the aforementioned Iggy Azalea.

Despite these tidings of good news, not everything has gone Ariana’s way lately. First, there were the inevitable comparisons to Miley Cyrus — a fellow child star turned pop princess — that annoyed Grande. Then most recently, as reported by Inquistr, her Nickelodeon show Sam & Cat was cancelled amid rumors of poor chemistry and internal strife amongst its star cast.

According to Deadline Hollywood, things got pretty intense between Ariana and co-star Jenny McCurdy with McCurdy voicing her beef with Grande to executives at Nickelodeon:

“McCurdy publicly accused Nickelodeon of unfair treatment. She also fueled speculation about a rift with her longtime best friend Grande by un-following Grande on social media and not joining her co-star at Nickelodeon’s Kids Choice Awards. A few days later, production on the series was shut down with four episodes from Season 1 left to shoot.”

But all of that is in Ariana’s past. In addition to her VMA nods, her debut single “Problem” is shattering digital and sales records according to Billboard magazine. “Grande’s ‘Problem’ featuring Australian rapper Iggy Azalea achieved chart sales of 113,000 copies, comprising 106,000 sales and 712,000 streams,” writes Billboard.

Her newest song, “Break Free” premiered on MTV’s Total Request Live recently and is already building solid momentum on radio play lists across America. According to Headlineplanet.com “‘Break Free’ looks to be another runaway pop radio hit for Ariana Grande. It is already in the Top 25.”

All-in-all, Ariana Grande is bursting with excitement and gratitude. Her Twitter emojis certainly reflect that.
